Hectic week

I hope to have some pictures posted tomorrow (or Friday) of some luscious superwash merino wool I am spinning. I love this stuff. So wonderful to spin and touch. I dyed the merino a few weeks ago in a blue colorway. My hope is there is enough fiber there (4 oz) for me to spin yarn for socks for a loved one. According to some friends, 4 oz is all I need for socks. The loved one has small feet, so maybe even less, but we'll see.

This week has been very hectic at work and at home, so no knitting, spinning, or even reading. Not even when I am done with my regular job. You see, I stepped in for a lecture professor who had a death in the family. Was I prepared to step in? Well, sort of. I've lectured in the past and there are planned lectures in the future since the prof will be out of town on a few class days. But, on such short notice? I was game, that's for sure, and I tackled the lectures head on. However, I am very relieved I will go back to doing one job only after today, and this means I can spin and do whatever I want later today at home. Wheee!

You see, today is the last lecture I will do this week. I've learned a lot and my course lecture notes are longer which is great. Now, if I just had the time to finish the rest of my lecture notes for a future course . . .

Fiber pictures tomorrow and wheel pictures too as my little Ashford Traveller is going to be replaced by a beautiful Majacraft Rose. I'm just waiting for the new wheel to come in the mail.

Happy fibering!

Yay, Majacraft! When I first saved up some money to buy a wheel, I was torn between the practical Ashford Joy or the luxurious Majacraft Rose. I explained to my husband that the Joy was half the price and most people recommended it as a starter wheel. If I got good at spinning, I could sell it and upgrade. My husband (laying the ground for his own excessive hobby purchases) suggested I go straight for the Rose. I did and I love it. Spinning on it is as close to effortless as you can get. Have fun with it!

Thanks Jessie,
I can't wait for my wheel to come in. I'm really looking forward to it. I tried the Rose during a round robin our guild had and fell in love. I'm glad you got the Rose rather than the Joy first. A traveling wheel like the Joy can turn some people off as it sits lower than a regular wheel and is a bit more limiting.
