Silk Caps and Bunny

Hey Robin,
Oooh, a post by you. Too cool. See, she does too exist! And pictures too! Yeah! Pearl's so cute!

I'll check the photo size when I get home, but the new domain should be able to handle good size pics, once we switch. Pictures are just one of the many reasons we decided to buy a domain.

The silk around a toilet paper roll looks like a good idea. I'll wait and see what you say after you try spinning from them. For readers who have never spun silk before, silk is very very sticky and sticks to itself really easily. Which means, if a spinner is not careful, she or he could end up with a very expensive tangled pile of silk. Been there, done that.

The pattern Robin refers to is one she purchased for a shawl recently, but unfortunately the name of the pattern place escapes me at present. Robin, try where Dan and I stayed. Maybe you put it on the desk or on the fiber shelves. Um, hopefully you will have better luck finding the pattern than you did the little orange bag. Big huge grin over here!

Day lilies? Uh oh. Robin is obsessed with day lilies right now. She has some beautiful specimens out front in her yard, newly planted AND newly crossed with otherday lilies in her garden. She's hoping for lots of seeds this year. She did her research on pollinating them too. It was like a mini-biologist came out in her. Very neat.

Alright, other pictures this weekend, since Robin posted Pearl. Maybe a photo of my cute nephew or something else, like my craft closet. Sigh, I didn't start packing that up yet. But that will happen this weekend for sure.

Oh yeah, and can we say DUH! I had a duh moment today. I don't need inked paper to pack up the fiber, I need it for a scroll saw and other items that are hard. Sigh, sometimes I surprise myself how dumb I can be.

Happy fibering!

Brief Update

Hi, this will be a very brief update. I've got photos of Robin's newest bunny Pearl and Robin's Dye-O-Rama sock yarn. I will post them this weekend.

Meanwhile, I am packing up my home to move and getting over a very nasty cold -- antibiotic nasty. Needless to say, I've been pretty tired from the cold, but I've been sorting and tossing and cleaning up my files at home for the move. Gosh, you never realize how much paperwork you produce until you have to clean it up. I do wonder if the paper can be used as filling for the moving boxes. Anyone have any idea if jetinked paper would work for packing? I worry about the ink bleeding which is my only hesitation. I'd hate to have beautiful hand-dyed yarn turn blackish because of bleeding ink and my stupidity. Oh yeah, and what about old wrapping paper? Can that be used too as packing? Otherwise it will be given away.

I pack my craft closet next. I'll take a before photo so all of you can see my messy craft closet. When we moved into this townhouse, I didn't think I would find a place to put my craft stuff, so I appreciate the closet. In the new place, I may be able to expand my closet and take over a craft room. I wonder how my hubby feels about that possibility . . . probably scared, real scared.

Alright, pictures this weekend. If my work server would stop crashing, I may be able to accomplish some work today yet!

Happy fibering!

Dye-O-Rama Yarn

Well, it's my yarn right now. Robin did receive her swap pal's Dye-O-Rama yarn, and I will try to remember to take a picture of it this week when we go down to sign our house lease. My Dye pal was Amanda who has a blog entitled "My Only Sunshine". Go check her blog out. She has been doing some fun things.

She based her dye colorway on a painting by Monet, entitled "Monet's Sunset". She talks about the yarn here, along with her Dye-O-Rama sock yarn and some goodies she received in the mail. I know, you want pictures, right? Well, here's my Dye-O-Rama yarn, front and back.

I love the colors in this yarn. If I weren't working on some socks for my mom, this yarn may already be on the needles working up into some beautiful socks. Now, the question is, what pattern to use to highlight the lovely colors in the yarn? A slip stitch pattern may work nice in this yarn, or maybe just plain stockinette. I'll have to play when I get done with my Mom's socks.

Amanda also included a really cute and cheerful sock yarn holder, that slips around the wrist to hold your yarn as you knit. Cool, huh? She has more pictures on her blog here. I include an image here to show you how lovely this little handmade item is. I never even thought to make one of these, but I bet they would be relatively easy to make. What a wonderful and thoughtful bonus to my sock yarn!

I have some other news too. We're moving. Yes, I know we are physically moving down to SC, but we are also virtually moving the blog to a different website. My husband and I purchased a domain for a number of reasons. The blog will be moving at the end of the month to the following site: http://www.clickingneedles.anndan.net/. Right now there is just a place holder at the site, my test trial page.

The move will occur probably at the end of June, with this website hosting a link connecting you to the new page for only about a month as Earthlink is not supported where we are going. The contents will be the same, but hopefully we'll have better graphics, and I can finally get Robin to post. She keeps telling me she'll try, but it doesn't happen. She's taking courses this summer and is on her second summer term. This one is supposed to be a difficult course, so I don't think we'll hear from her for a bit. But, maybe when I am down closer to her again, I'll take photos and blog about some of her projects.

Oooh, on that note. Robin was up here for a bit this Sunday with a friend, Sue. Sue and her son were bunny shopping -- angora bunny shopping. They stopped at Avillion Farm, a rabbitry that belongs to a friend of ours. In the past, Robin has purchased her angora bunnies from this farm and has lovely bunnies that produce wonderful fiber. Well, I decided to head on over to meet up with them and drop off my old serger sewing machine for Robin. My mom purchased a new one, and asked if I wanted her old one. I said yes and shipped it out here, so I have a new one to play with, and now Robin has a new toy too. But that's off topic.

Now, If you'll recall, Robin lost one of her bunnies due to a freak accident, leaving her with two rabbits. Robin's goal this weekend was to NOT come home with a third bunny rabbit, but to help her friend find two rabbits, possibly a breeding pair. Cough, grin, well, as luck would have it, Pearl, a beautiful blue doe decided Robin was her owner. Pearl let Robin hold her and pet her and do almost anything to her without a fuss.

Um, how did Pearl end up in Robin's arms? It wasn't my fault, honest! I turned around and Robin was pulling a young bunny out of a cage and checking the sex of the bunny. Really, honest! I may be an enabler, but I didn't do anything to help her along on this one . . . well, other than pet the bunny and get to hold her myself. And um, yeah, I may have mentioned this one looks like it wants to go home with Robin. Sigh, yes, I guess I did help. But, really, how was I to know she would take one out of the cage. Oh, yeah, well, I guess I knew that would happen too. Hmm, sigh, but then I'm pretty sure Robin and her hubby P knew this was going to happen too. So, see, I'm not an enabler on this one.

So, the end result, Robin has a lovely little dark grey (blue) bunny rabbit as a new fiber producer. I'll try to remember to take photos of the bunnies when we are down there.

Alright, really, that's it for me. Mouthy today, wasn't I? Happy fibering all!
